Dorothy Lillian Kaptis, 88, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, in Fairlea, WV, of a short illness.
Dorothy was born on August 26, 1931, in Earlehurst, VA, and later moved to Big Ridge, VA, to live, and was the daughter of Bernard and Mary Dickson.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in White Sulphur Springs for many years. She was a homemaker, an avid Bingo player for many years, and she loved gardening. Her cat, “Puddin,” was of great comfort to her.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kaptis; sister, Elizabeth (Libby Bradley); brothers, Marlan Dickson, Paul Dickson, James Dickson, and William (Bill) Dickson; and grandsons, Brent Clinebell and John Kaptis.
She is survived by three sons, Paul Kaptis (Sandy) of Port Charlotte, FL, Steve Kaptis of Hot Springs, VA, and Jimmy Kaptis (Lorie) of Caldwell, WV; daughters, Margaret White (Bobby) of White Sulphur Sprins and Joyce Clinebell ( Roy) of Sterling, VA; grandchildren, Dimitrois Kaptis of Florida, Christopher White of White Sulphur Springs, Jennifer White-Bisek (Phillip) of Keysville, VA, Charles Kaptis (Erica) of White Sulphur Springs, and Chelsea Brownfield of North Carolina; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral services, which will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs. Interment will follow at the Hylton Cemetery in Earlehurst.
Pallbearers will be Phillip White-Bisek, Christopher White, Bobby R. White, Charles Kaptis, and Roy Clinebell.
