HUNDRED (WVDN) – Public comment and evidentiary hearings into the operations of a troubled Wetzel County water and sewer utility will be held on Oct. 30 by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia.
The West Virginia office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Utilities Service asked the Commission on April 10 to review operations of the Hundred-Littleton Public Service District under the Distressed and Failing Utilities Improvement Act of 2020.
The federal agency cited numerous deficiencies in the operations of the system, including that the PSD is delinquent on loans to the federal entity. PSC legal staff also recommended the Commission determine the system is a distressed utility.
The Commission said it would hold a public comment hearing at 10 a.m. and an evidentiary hearing at 10:30 a.m. October 30 at the Hundred Public Library, U.S. Route 250, Hundred, WV.
Staff recommended to the Commission a number of nearby utilities that may be able to assist in this matter, including the city of New Martinsville, city of Mannington, Clay Battelle Public Service District, and the Grandview-Doolin Public Service District. The Commission said each of them would be notified of the proceedings.
