Thomas Stuart McClung, age 71, of Clifton Forge, VA, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on February 6, 1948, in Dallas, TX, to Alston “Red” McClung and Betty Everett McClung.
He served in the United States Navy and was a theater technician for R.C. Theaters for nearly 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Scott McClung.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma L. Holt McClung of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Michelle McClung Jeffrey of Morgantown, WV; three sons, Richard Eugene McClung (Alecia) of Millboro, VA, Dustin Scott McClung of Clifton Forge, and Ashley Alan McClung (Caroline) of Eagle Rock, VA; two brothers, Jim McClung of Missouri and Will McClung of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Jonathan Johnson (fiancée Whitney Urbanek), Maddy Jeffrey, Lilly McClung, Ramsay McClung, and Thomas McClung; two great-grandchildren, Caiden Johnson and Brooklynn Simon; an aunt, Vivian Mintreas of Moundsville, WV; an uncle, Jesse Clayton McClung of Greer, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; and his adopted children, Jacob and Dorey Anderson, Nicki Calhoun, Renee Vaughn, Jason Wright, Susan and Chanda Ingram, and Sarah Stone.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher and Mr. Dustin McClung officiating. A celebration of life service will take place at a later date on the family farm in White Buck Knob, WV.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be an additional visitation on Monday from 3 p.m. until time of the service.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Burnside-Carpenter Post 4299 Veterans of Foreign Wars, P.O. Box 182, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or a fruit tree of any variety can be donated to Wilma to be planted in memory of Thomas on the farm in West Virginia.
