Katherine Virginia Patterson, age 95, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born on November 25, 1924, in Union, WV, she was the daughter of Homer and Mary Gooch Patterson.
Katherine was retired from The Greenbrier hotel, where she had worked in housekeeping. She was always “on the go” traveling around with folks all the time. Katherine never met a stranger.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all of the people who gave their mother a ride from place to place and made sure she got home safely throughout the years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Christ in White Sulphur Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Patterson; 10 brothers, Edward, Okey, George Triplett, Robert, Lawrence, Ernest, Harold, Herman, Richard, and Jimmy; and five sisters, Thelma, Irene, Roberta, Glenna, and Lorane.
Survivors include one son, Roger Patterson (Michelle) of White Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Marilyn Patterson of Huntington, WV; two brothers, Clarence Patterson (Barbara) of Brooklyn, NY, and David Patterson (Carolyn) of Nokesville, VA; one sister, Louetta Patterson of Columbus, OH; eight grandchildren, Damion Patterson, Brandi Hollingshead, Tanesha Lee, Derrick Patterson, Nick Carrington, Breonna Patterson, Isaac Patterson, and Jordan Patterson; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with Elder Randall Allen and the Rev. Greg Scott officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
