Ruth Catherine McDaniel Jones, 90, of Pence Springs, WV, was called to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, January 19, 2020.
Catherine was a daughter of the late Everette Lee and Anna Ruth Mann McDaniel.
She was born on December 18, 1929, and was raised on her family farm with her sisters, Erma and Beulah.
Catherine graduated as Valedictorian from Greenville High School in 1948. On July 20, 1952, she married David Eugene Jones, and they resided in Clayton, WV. Catherine was a loving wife who took great care of her husband.
In 1962, Catherine and Gene moved to their farm in Pence Springs where they raised their four children. Catherine was a loving wife and mother, fully enjoying being a homemaker and was devoted to her church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, embroidery, and drawing. She simply loved being outside while watching her favorite things, her birds, her rabbits, and her flowers. She referred to her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren as her “Kiddies.”
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Jones; her infant son; her sisters, Erma McDaniel and Beulah Via; three great-grandchildren, David Matthew and Hailey Faith Jones, and Catherine Jane-Annette Heck; a sister-in-law, Alva Ann Kinard; and special cousins, Lois Roles, Anna Smith, and Doris Lilly.
She is survived by her children, Debra Canterbury (Paul), David Jones (Cheryl), Karen Persinger, and Peggy Miller (Ray); her Kiddies, Timothy Canterbury (Veronica) and their children, Olivia, Jacob, and Sarah; Amy Canterbury and her daughter, Chloe Heck; David Lee Jones and his children, Grace and Colton; William Jones; Justin Persinger (Heather) and their children, Hope Gillespie, Morgan, and Caden; Jeffrey Persinger and his children, Canyon and Bristol; Barry Persinger (Jamie) and their children, Abigayle, Alicea, and Alana; Larry Persinger (Tammy) and their children, Dustin and John Ross; Tyler Miller and his children, Preston and Carter; and Shelley Summers (Josh); two sisters-in-law, Elda Montgomery and Evelyn Drake; and two special cousins, Norene Pence and Faye Hancock.
The family would like to especially thank Louise Brown-Dyke, Missy Mullins, and Janie Mann for all the loving care they provided.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Pence Springs Community Church, with Pastor Roger Persinger and the Rev. Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Pence Springs.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service, Sunday, at the church.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
