Donna Gayle Burns Spencer, age 65, of Alderson, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV, following a sudden illness.
Born on March 1, 1954, in Ronceverte, WV, she was the daughter of Edgar Lee and Mary Blanche VanHoye Burns.
Ms. Spencer was a homemaker and attended the Alderson Church of the Nazarene on Muddy Creek Mountain. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and especially loved to attend her grandchildren’s sports activities. Family was everything to Ms. Spencer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carmen Ruth Burns Baisden and Rebecca Sue Burns Tincher; four nephews, James Blevins, Gary Blevins, Michael Burns, and Stevie Burns; one great-niece, Bethany Suzanne Parker; and two special grandsons, Justin Shull and Caleb King.
Survivors include three children, Angie “Angel” Carpenter (Tommy) of Fairlea, WV, Eli Spencer (companion Heather Elswick) of Talcott, WV, and Felicia Spencer (fiancé, Nakoma King) of Alderson; seven grandchildren, Dakota Carpenter, Marisha Carpenter (special friend Sam Romine), Jordan Spencer, Abby Reed, Michael Willey, Corbin Spencer, and Aubri King; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mullins and Leighton Carpenter; one brother, Ronald Burns (Arleen) of Alderson; three sisters, Avalon Blevins (Raymond) of Clayton, WV, Sharon Crook of Archdale, NC, and Vickie Williams (Raymond) of Alderson; special granddog, Tinkerbell; special grandcat, Noely; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Alderson Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Ed Midcap officiating.
Friends may call Friday from 12-2 p.m. at the church.
In keeping with Ms. Spencer’s wishes, she will be cremated following the service.
