Beulah Mae Flack Smith, 96, of Fairlea, WV, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, at her home.
Beulah was born on February 16, 1926, in Mooresville, MO, to Jasper Jason and Clara Toothman Flack.
She was a graduate of White Sulphur Springs High School. She worked for Ashford Hospital at The Greenbrier during WWII, was a switchboard operator for C & P Telephone, worked at Leggett’s Department Store, and retired from Stone & Thomas Department Store. She was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
Other than her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Smith in 1986; sisters, Hazel Flack Harrah and Christina Flack; and brothers, Carl, Earl, Otho, Albert, and Edwin Flack.
Survivors include daughters, Carla Smith Higginbotham (Charlie) of Frankford, WV, and Barbara Jo Smith-Hudnall of Fairlea; son, Charles “Chuck” Smith (Debbie) of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Mike Quick (Gretchen), Russell Higginbotham (Heather), Jessica Policano (fiancé Brandon), Joshua Higginbotham, Nikki O’Neil (Kristopher), and Katie Hughes (Jonathan); and great-grandchildren, Carter, Andrew, Grant, Conner, Grayson, and Sawyer Higginbotham, Whitney Mae Quick, Talyn Hersman, and Baby O’Neil, who will be arriving in May.
Public visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
A graveside service will follow the visitation at the Rosewood Cemetery, with speaker Jack Hudnall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kanawha HospiceCare, Inc., 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
