CHAPMANVILLE- Eastern Greenbrier volleyball traveled to Chapmanville Saturday, Sept. 6 for the annual Cancer Awareness Tournament.
The Knights went undefeated in pool play with a record of 6-0, playing Mullens, Hamlin, and Chapmanville. Coming out with the first seed, they got matched up with Williamson and a tough Sherman team who knocked them out in the semifinals last season. The Lady Knights were victorious over both this time.
From there, they got matched up with second-seeded Milton and last year’s winner, where they ended their winning streak.
The first set, the Lady Knights gave the Panthers a fight until the end and lost by just one, and did not have enough gas left to prevail. Errors at critical times also played a tough role.
“Even though we’d liked a different outcome, going 10-2 on the day was a great way to start the season, and hopefully we can continue to improve and grow as the season moves forward,” coach Dawn McClure said.
