Kenneth Thomas Miller “Kenny,” 45, of Fairlea, WV, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at his home after an extended battle with cancer.
Born on March 13, 1974, in Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of Larry T. Miller and Margaret Ann Miller Brown.
Kenny worked as a CNA at the Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea for 17 years, during which time he also cared for a special friend, Richard Ford Sr. He loved his job and every resident under his care, missing only a handful of days in the entirety of his career. Kenny was a fun, loving, caring man, and all who knew him knew they had a true friend. We may never know how many lives his life touched.
Kenny was proud to have served this great United States of America! He spent five years in the West Virginia Army National Guard attached to BtryC 1/201st F.A. in Maxwelton, WV. He spent nine months in Kuwait/Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn. Among his decorations, medals, and badges are Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with MDevice. His military career ended honorably as a specialist.
Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ann Miller Brown; two sisters, Samantha and Laura A. Miller; maternal grandparents, Estil L. and Virginia E. Keene; paternal grandparents, Basil and Edith Coleman; and one niece, Liz A. Miller.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 20 years, Christina Miller, who also served as his full time caregiver during his battle with cancer. Kenny also left behind two stepchildren, Brent McClung, and Ashely Cornelious (John). He never saw them as stepchildren, he loved them as though they were his own. Kenny is also survived by his father, Larry T. Miller; a sister, Pamela Rasnick (Keith); one niece, Presley Rasnick; one nephew, Parker Rasnick (Parker being uncle Kenny’s biggest fan); and two very special brothers-in-law, John and Michael Anderson.
At Kenny’s request, his body was donated to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for the advancement of science. A memorial service will be held at the National Guard Armory, 635 Industrial Park Rd., Maxwelton, WV 24957, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. with full military honors. All who knew Kenny are asked to come and celebrate Kenny’s life.
