Floyd Allen “Big Daddy” Butler, 87 of Alderson, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.
Born on August 26, 1932, in Blue Sulphur Springs, WV, he was the son of John and Lena Hiser Butler.
Floyd worked as a Machinist in Chicago, IL, before retiring back home to West Virginia. Floyd was a U.S. Army Korean war veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Athlene Ruth Dodd Butler; children, Brenda Walkup, Ralph Kashola, Ruth Gibson, and Ronnie Kashola; grandson, Eric Redden; and brothers and sisters, Charles Butler, Mary Meade, Mamie Simms, Delvia Stuart, Glenna Forren, and Carl Butler.
Survivors are children, Diane Bevins (Roger) of Leslie, WV, Peggy Redden of Alderson, Ellen McClung (Ronnie) of Rupert, WV, and Joetta Corbin (Tommy) of Illinois; brothers, John Butler (Janice) of Alderson, Leo Butler (Janet) of Rupert, and Granval Simms of Blue Sulphur Springs; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
It was Floyd’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on a later date.
