LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) — The English Language Learner (ELL) instructional team at Greenbrier County Schools will host a Community Family Fair on Sept. 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Greenbrier East High School. The event aims to foster community and school engagement with the families of ELL students.
The fair, set to take place at the main entrance of Greenbrier East High School, will feature a variety of activities and resources designed to support and engage multilingual and non-English speaking families. The ELL team is seeking the involvement of local organizations to contribute to the event in several ways.
Organizations are invited to:
Provide representatives to educate families about local resources.
Donate food and beverages.
Contribute raffle prizes.
Offer activities for children and youth, such as bounce houses, cornhole and face painting.
To ensure effective communication, translators will be available during the event. However, organizers are also requesting the presence of Spanish and other language speakers from participating organizations to further assist in bridging language gaps.
Those interested in supporting or participating in the Community Family Fair are encouraged to contact Andrea Green at andrea.green@k12.wv.us.
