Rosemary Christina Logan Winston, daughter of the late Reverend Christopher “CC” Logan Jr. and Cassie Brown Logan, was born on June 29, 1951, in Ronceverte, WV, and was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston, WV.
Rosemary was baptized at the Mount Tabor Baptist Church at an early age and continued to be a faithful member until her physical health no longer allowed it.
Rosemary loved the Lord, and worshipped and praised Him at every opportunity.
Rosemary was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, class of 1969, and received her bachelor’s degree in counseling and rehabilitation in 1973 from Marshall University in Huntington, WV.
After graduation, Rosemary was employed by the Federal Correction Institution (FCI) in Alderson, WV, and transferred to FCI in Butner, NC, where she met and married the love of her life, Roy A. Winston. Rosemary, Roy, and their three children moved “home” to Lewisburg, WV, in the summer of 1999. After 38 years of togetherness, he passed away in June 2014. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Big Mommy), sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor, who loved everyone and was loved by everyone who crossed her path. Rosemary never met a stranger.
Rosemary leaves to celebrate her life her mother, Cassie Brown Logan of Fairlea, WV; sons, Rashaun Winston (Keisha) of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Christopher “CC” Winston; daughter, Rashanda Winston of Lewisburg; stepsons, Terrill and Fred Thornton, and one stepdaughter, Darcel Thornton, all of North Carolina; grandchildren, Keishaun and LaShawnti Winston of White Sulphur Springs, and Pya Landis and Taylor Thornton of North Carolina; brother, Christopher (Chucky) Logan III of Roanoke, VA; sisters: Joy McDonald (Doreen) of Newport News, VA, Twana Logan Jackson, Toni Logan Hughes (Darrell), both of Lewisburg, Judith Logan Anthony (Simeon) and Tara Logan Williams (Anthony), both of Nashville, TN; and a dear special friend, Neva Jo Gordon of Lewisburg.
Rosemary’s homegoing celebration service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Lewisburg, with the Rev. Ronald Sherrod and the Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends and family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept contributions.
