Barbara Lynn Van Buren, 67, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019.
Born on January 22, 1952, in Ronceverte, she was a daughter of Raymond Thomas and Isabelle Erskine Fox.
Barbara was a 1969 graduate of Greenbrier East High School and a lifelong resident of Ronceverte. She was retired from various positions in the medical community.
She was known for her cooking and helping others. Even in death she continued helping others by being an organ donor. She was a member of the Graystone Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Debra Fox Bartley; and great-great-nephew, Nash Finley Perdue.
She is survived by her loving husband, Elbert Van Buren; her son, David Lee Kennedy (Amy) of Sinks Grove, WV; her brothers, Billy Joe Fox (Mary Sue) of Covington, VA, and Rick Fox of Ronceverte; step daughters, Lesha Van Buren of Roanoke, VA and Sheila Ballard (Mark) of Ronceverte; a niece, Diane Austin of Covington; nephew, Jared Fox of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Kayla Wiseman (Kevin), Rachelle Dudley, and Kyle and Destiny Ballard; great-grandchildren, Noah, Jakira, Ethan, Jrew and Julien; several other extended family and friends; and her faithful companion, Sam.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Graystone Baptist Church, with Pastor Youel Altizer officiating. Burial followed at the Bethel Church Cemetery in Organ Cave, WV.
