WHO IS ANNE WILSON?

FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – Here, we look at the State Fair performer, Anne Wilson.

One of Nashville’s most inspiring artists, Anne Wilson is an American Christian musician and songwriter.

Relatively new-ish to the music industry, Wilson, who was born in Lexington, Kentucky, decided to pursue a country music career after the death of her older brother, Jacob, who died in a car accident in a moment that Wilson says, “brought me closer to Jesus.”

She released her debut single, “My Jesus” in 2021 after signing with Capitol Christian Music Group in 2019. That song became a top hit and reached no. 1 on the Hot Christian Music Chart. The song was also nominated for the Top Christian Single at the Billboard Music Awards as she became the only female ever to be nominated for that award.

Wilson was nominated for six GMA Dove Awards in 2022: New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year-artist, and Pop/contemporary album of the year. She took home two of those as the winner.

Wilson was ecstatic about her fortunes and being able to honor her late brother.

“I never imagined I’d be here tonight, standing on this stage and getting to be among all of you incredible artists. I want to thank my sweet brother in Heaven who has inspired me. That’s why I do what I do, to honor Jacob, and I’m so grateful,” Wilson said at the time.

Wilson released her most recent album, “Rebel,” on April 19, 2024, and it hit no. 1 on the top Christian albums chart.

WHY YOU SHOULD GET TICKETS:

Supporting an all-American girl like Wilson is an easy decision. She is down to earth, humble, and her Christian values appeal to many. She has never had any skeptical press around her as she put in the hard work to get where she is today.

Wilson will hit the State Fair stage on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
