HARTS W.Va. (WVDN) – UPDATE: According to The West Virginia State Police, the woman died from a gunshot wound. The statement said:

“On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, an autopsy was performed on the victim. The victim died from a single gunshot wound. The identification of the victim is still unknown. This investigation is ongoing.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

Authorities discovered the remains of a woman in a wooded area of Harts. The West Virginia State Police issued the following statement:

“On Monday, June 24, 2024, Tpr. R. S. Clagg and Tpr. C. T. Daniels were dispatched by Lincoln County 911, for a death investigation. Upon arrival Troopers located a deceased female in a wooded area off of Taunton Drive in Harts, WV. WVSP Crime Scene responded and processed the scene. The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston, WV for an autopsy and Positive Identification. This investigation is ongoing.”
