If you like boxing and like to support your local and state men, here’s your chance to partake! Chase Hill, Owner of Chill Sports, along with the incredible Jenessa Mobley (Licensed Promoter of the event), have put together an incredible event of West Virginia vs. Virginia boxers. This event, which is among the thousands of fights the two promote, is a very special one.
Heavyweight Champion Shawn Laughery has trimmed down to be entered into the Cruiserweight Division, to go toe to toe in the West Virginia State Cruiserweight Championship, against Daniele Benedetto. The main event will feature fighters Zion Tomlinson and Robert Nicewander, better known as “Bobby Freshness.” The first ever “fans select” Main Event begs all to come witness. In the 24-hour period they allotted the fans to choose, they selected the pro boxing debut of Zion Tomlinson vs. the undefeated Bobby Freshness. It’s a border war between WV and VA!
Chase Hill, a chiropractor from West Virginia, fell in love with the sport in 2011 when attending a boxing match. The sights and sounds, the venue and the excitement were all he needed to start living the dream, promoting WV fighters to be champions. Hills’ organization has helped over 40 fighters from West Virginia go on to compete on big stages around the world, providing them with training and opportunities for success. “I don’t make promises I can’t keep but when a young man tells me he will sign with me if I can get him in the same ring on the same night, at the same venue as Floyd Mayweather Jr., he will do it. I did everything I could to line this up. It took a solid year, but I finally did it and to see the joy in his face was the only [thanks] I needed,” Hill said.
Chills’ trainers fully support the growth of their boxers, in every aspect.
“If I see you can fight and have passion, [morality] and the will to win, I’m going to give you my all.” says Hill.
“We’ve taken our local young men to new heights and given them an opportunity to live their dreams. We’ve had guys in Russia, New Zealand, Germany and all over The United States. Seeing them living the dream means [so much to me.] How many opportunities does a young West Virginian ever get the chance to do what he loves? I intend to work with and promote any good fighter and to give him an opportunity to realize his dreams. My entire team is devoted and have been with me since the beginning, 12 years ago,” he added.
Appalachian Boxing Association provides championship belts for non-state fighters, with winners earning the right to defend their titles. This event features professional fighters from various states, including an 11-0 Canadian fighter with 10 knockouts. This gives local in-state winners a chance to defend their titles. Janessa Mobley has worked hard to ensure Saturday’s fights are of high quality, with a dedicated crew of 12 years. Hill credits Mobley with the highest admiration for all of her work organizing this event and could not have done this without her expertise. To find out more about the event or upcoming events, search Facebook for Chill Sports. Ticket info and purchases can be made at chillboxing.com and at the door. Ticket prices are $30.00 for general admission, $40 for reserved seating and $50 for front row seats.
This Saturdays’ event is “A very special event” per Hill and welcomes all to come support the fighters and to have a great time. If you are interested in becoming a boxer, reach out to Chase Hill at chillsportsnet@gmail.com.
