Late Sunday night, the Class A all-state softball teams were released, and several local talents landed on the list.
Greenbrier West sophomore Brilee Redden was named to the second team as a pitcher after a good 2024 campaign. Redden hit .350 with 10 doubles, two triples, and two home runs. She also drove in 17 runs and scored 35 herself. In the pitcher’s circle, she enjoyed another stellar season. She went 8-8 against some of the best teams on the Cavs schedule, pitched 92 innings, struck out 145 batters, and had an ERA of just 1.82.
Redden’s teammates, Preslee Treadway and Maddie fields, also were honored with honorable mention selections. Fields batted .360 with eight doubles, five triples, one homer, and 30 RBIs. She scored 32 runs as well.
Treadway finished with five home runs and a .324 average. The junior shortstop also had 29 RBIs and scored 30 runs.
James Monroe’s Bryleigh Thomas rounded out the local names on the honorable mention list. Thomas stood out for the Mavericks all season and finished with a .435 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, 15 RBIs, and 13 runs scored. Also the ace of the pitching staff, Thomas threw 91.1 innings and had a 2-2 record. She struck out 116 hitters and sported a 4.98 ERA.
