Denver R. Hayes, 71, of Waynesboro, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Fishersville, VA.
He was born on May 27, 1947, in Frankford, WV. Mr. Hayes was retired from Genicom as a line worker. As an avid outdoorsman, he liked to fish, hunt and enjoyed gardening.
He was married to the late Donna G. Hayes for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Hayes and Estella Elizabeth Napier Hayes; his wife, Donna G. Hayes; his brother, James Hayes; his sister, Shelby Starke; and brother-in-law, Billy Starke.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Hayes and his wife, Briget, of Waynesboro; and his daughter, Denise Hayes and her companion, Jacob Smith, of Staunton, VA. He was a loving grandfather of Dylan Hayes, Jacob Hayes, and Christian Losh. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas and Patricia Hayes of Waynesboro, JoAnn and Steve Hill of Rifle, CO, Robert Hayes and Janet Moore of Frankford, WV, Tony Hayes of Fairlea, WV, and sister-in-law, Glena Hayes of Smyrna, GA. He was a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews, and dear friend to Josephine Weeks.
Family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 11 a.m., with a memorial service following at noon at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.
