Gary Burton Bennett, 61, of Romulus, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Born October 24, 1956, in Marlinton, WV, he was the son of the late Merle and Betty Bennett of Neola, WV, formerly of Michigan.
Gary was a 1975 graduate of Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, MI. Gary was a proud, distinguished police officer of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, representing the Detroit Metropolitan Area. He retired with 30 years of service as sergeant.
Gary is survived by his wife, Susanna; brothers, Mark of Danville, IN, and Kevin (Mary) of McHenry, MD; step-children, Annah (Robert) and Chelsea (Mike); step-grandchildren, Kinsley, Summer and Jaxson; nieces and nephews, Amber Bennett of Danville, Katie Cantrell (Chris) and great niece Annabeth of McHenry, Kevin Lee Bennett (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kole and Kristen Bennett of McHenry, and Kaylee, Jordan and Dominic.
Gary will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 1–8 p.m. at the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road, Dear-born, MI. Donations may be made to Season Hospice and/or the family.
