Kathy Richmond Bennett, 59, passed away at her home in Mount Airy, NC, on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
She was born in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Izetta McCauley Richmond and William Franklin Rexrode.
She was a 1976 graduate of Pocahontas County High School. She received a certificate in hotel/motel and restaurant management from Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, VA, a CNA certificate from Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, and a director of activities certificate from Surry Community College in Dobson, NC. She worked as an activities director with the handicapped until her retirement in 2011.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, William Louis Bennett; sons, Kevin Dwayne Bennett, Derek Ian Bennett, and William Alexander Bennett, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Ashton Blake Bennett and Hannah Leigh Bennett of Mount Airy; sister, Carol Hefner of South Carolina; and a special cousin, Mike McCauley of Maryland.
As per her wishes, she was cremated. A memorial service in honor of her memory will be held at McCraw Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisburg, WV, on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
Visitation will be from 9 – 11 a.m., with the service following immediately at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating.
Her ashes will be spread with her husband’s at a later date.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
