Inez Medley Sherrod, 95, formerly of Leslie, WV, transitioned from this world to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018, from the home of her son and primary caregiver, James E. and Roxann Sherrod of Severn, MD.
She was born November 16, 1922, in Red Sulphur Springs, WV, to Ira and Allie Medley.
She was married to the Rev. Henry E. Sherrod for 57 years, and was the proud mother of eight sons and one daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Allie Medley; three brothers; three sisters; husband, the Rev. Henry Sherrod; two sons, Henry E. Sherrod Jr. (Jackie) and Richard F. Sherrod; and her only daughter, Vivian S. Hopkins (Frank Jr).
She leaves, to cherish her precious memory, one sister, Marion Dillard; six sons, the Rev. James E. Sherrod (Roxann), Howard T. Sherrod (Brenda), the Rev. Clifford A. Sherrod (Terri), the Rev. R.L. Sherrod (Anessa), Jerald L. Sherrod (Robin), and Stevie Sherrod; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her formal homegoing service will be held at Second Baptist Church in Annapolis, MD, on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James E. Sherrod officiating.
A viewing will be held at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 149 Foster St., Lewisburg, WV, on Friday, May 4, from 7–9 p.m. Interment will follow at Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch, WV, on Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of local arrangements.
