Elizabeth Lorene Burdette House was born December 7, 1920, in Wolfcreek, WV, and passed from this world Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Her parents were Robert Owen Burdette and Grace Coleman Jones.
Lorene, as she preferred to be called, was married to William (Bill) House in June of 1941. Bill passed from this world in 1981.
Lorene and Bill moved to Texas in 1949, where they resided until the spring of 2009. She and Bill returned to West Virginia frequently, and after her mother passed, they purchased the Wolfcreek property and eventually built a cabin.
In the spring of 1961, Lorene became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Always a loving and caring person, she was able to practice her profession for many years. She was an avid bowler for many years and was on her way to go bowling when she had a near fatal accident in 2008. Lorene was always active in her church and was a member of the choir at the Highland Baptist Church in La Marque, Texas.
In the spring of 2009, Lorene once again became a resident of West Virginia, residing with Anita and Don and attending church with them at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Beckley. In 2014, she decided she wanted to join the Orthodox Church, and was received into that faith.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lorene was also preceded in death by her seven brothers: Ralph, Norman, Alvan, Fred, Herbert, Paul, and Robert; and one sister, Margaret Lipps.
She is survived by her daughter Anita and her husband, Don Hill; two sons, David and Randy and his wife, Lisa; one sister, Ruth Olive of Texas City, TX; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Father Samuel Haddad officiating at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, WV.
There will be a visitation held on Monday, February 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, WV, with a Triasagan Prayers of Mercy at 6:30 p.m. performed by Father Samuel Haddad.
