Gerald William Sizemore
Gerald William Sizemore, 68, of White Sulphur Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2023.
Gerald was born October 22, 1954, in White Sulphur Springs, to the late David Alden Sizemore, Sr. and Lillian H. Bennett Sizemore.
Gerald was a graduate from Glenville State College. He was self-employed most of his life, running multiple businesses like Boot Scootin Lounge, RVA Bingo, Riley’s Restaurant, and he also acted as a property developer and property manager for multiple properties around the area. Gerald also served his community as a police officer in the City of Princeton and as Deputy Sheriff for Mercer County and a teacher at Anthony Correctional Facility. Gerald spent time as a Private Investigator and Bail Bondsman for SGS Investigations, and he even prepared taxes at H&R Block for a while. He was a member of the White Sulphur Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Gerald was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet, and he never met a stranger or someone he wouldn’t help. Gerald was a family man who loved everyone, especially the love of his life, Phyllis, who he was married to for over 43 years. Gerald will be missed by so many people; he touched countless lives over the years with a smile, a kind word, or friendly gesture.
After so many years of fighting cancer, Gerald, you are finally at peace, no longer in pain. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. You were so proud to be ours: a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Little did you know how proud we all were to be yours.
Other than his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Ray Sizemore, David Alden Sizemore, Jr., Randolph Wayne Sizemore, Sr.; and sister, Barbara Louise Sizemore.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Riley Sizemore; daughters, Sonja Cole of White Sulphur Springs, Tracy Persinger and Doug of White Sulphur Springs; son, Ray Gabbert and Dede of Frankford; grandchildren, Chavis Gabbert of Frankford, Megan McCoy of White Sulphur Springs, Courtney Hudnall and Zack of White Sulphur Springs, Chelsea Brumfield and Chris of Lewisburg, Lanti Cole and Steve of Fairlea, Brianna Persinger and Matt of Covington, VA, Madison Persinger and Alex of Tampa, FL, and Devin Persinger and Amber of White Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Ella and Cole McCoy, Finlee and Raegan Hudnall, Xander Damon, Ayden Maydian, Oliver and Grayson Brumfield, and Willow Gabbert; one brother, Pastor Gene E. Sizemore and wife, Shirley, of White Sulphur Springs. Also surviving are four nephews and seven nieces.
The family welcomes friends to a visitation from 12 – 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at White Sulphur Pentecostal Holiness Church in White Sulphur Springs, followed by the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gene Sizemore and Doug Persinger officiating.
