BEAVER, W.Va. – Planning is wrapping up for the Volleyball 4 Autism event on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, and preregistration for teams of eight is open through April 12, 2023. The pre-registration fee is $100, and teams can register the morning of the event for $150.
Volleyball 4 Autism will kick-off with the Battle for the Net at 9 a.m. followed by games in two divisions, one for those who play regularly and one for those with less experience.
Admission to the event is $2. Concessions will be available at the event, and attendees can participate in raffles as well as a silent auction. All funds raised from the event will go to the non-profit organization Autism Speaks.
Dr. Temple Grandin, Colorado State University professor of animal sciences and renowned animal behaviorist and autism activist, has donated an autographed bag and book for the silent auction at the event.
Students in the Browning Social Service Club at New River Community and Technical College plan Volleyball 4 Autism. The club is composed of students in the college’s social services associate of science degree program. The two-year program prepares students for direct service jobs or to continue their education in a Bachelor of Social Work program.
