LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier County Democratic Women’s Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 28, with guest speaker being Stephen Williams, mayor of Huntington.
Williams is meeting with groups around the state as he considers a run for state-wide office. He highlighted his accomplishments during 10 years as the city’s mayor, saying that Huntington went from a broken budget in 2012 to a $20 million dollar surplus. Other accomplishments include innovative programs to address homelessness and the opioid crisis. The city’s programs have won many awards, and these programs are being emulated in other cities across the country.
The club hopes to welcome him back at a future meeting.
The club meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Old Stone Church in Lewisburg. Everyone is welcome to attend (men too). Learn more about the club on their Facebook Page. They welcome new members. Contact them at greenbrierdemwomen@gmail.com.
