GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVDN) – The Mountain Resource Conservation and Development (Mtn. RC&D) is currently accepting project grant applications for the 2023-2024 year. Grants are provided to local organizations that promote education and conservation in the region.

The Mtn. RC&D’s mission is to maintain environmental quality and increase community development opportunities in Southern West Virginia. The Mnt. RC&D serves Braxton, Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, Webster and Wyoming counties.

The group meets its mission by funding local initiatives by grassroots, community or nonprofit groups that focus on achieving environmental conservation through projects. Past projects receiving financial assistance have included educational programs for watershed and conservation groups, stream bank restoration, park and recreation development, environmental cleanups and many others.

A simple, online project application is available at mtnrcd.com/projects/. Applications are due by March 6. Grant awards are on a reimbursement basis; funds typically range from $500 to $3,000 per project.

Additional information is available at https://www.mtnrcd.com, or by contacting county RC&D representatives. A list of board members is available at mtnrcd.com/board-of-directors/. Interested individuals can also contact info@mtnrcd.com.
