An 18-year member of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office has passed away, and members of the community are mourning the loss.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Sheriff’s Department announced that Lieutenant Charles R. Smith had passed away.
In a post on the department’s Facebook page, it was stated, “It is with deep sadness that the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department announces the untimely passing of Lieutenant Charles R. Smith, an 18-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department.
“Lieutenant Smith died on Wednesday, February 01, 2023, and leaves behind a wife, three children, and two stepchildren.
We respectfully request that you keep his entire family in your prayers during this difficult time.”
