LEWISBURG (WVDN) – Fans hoping to watch the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans the rest of this week will not get that opportunity now as their next three games have been canceled due to head coach Jim Justice contacting COVID-19.
Justice spent Tuesday, Jan. 17, with WVU basketball coach Bob Huggins and new athletic director Wren Baker in the governor’s reception room after state lawmakers honored Huggins with citations on the floor of the Senate and House of Delegates.
East was scheduled to play Oak Hill tonight, Jan. 18, George Washington this Friday and Parkersburg South on Saturday.
As of right now, the next Lady Spartans game is expected to be on Jan. 28 against Hurricane.
According to Justice’s office, the governor, is fully vaccinated and boosted and is experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating at home.
He is being treated by several physicians, including his family physician Dr. Gary Poling, DO, and Dr. Clay Marsh, MD, the state COVID-19 czar.
Everyone that the Governor has been in close contact with over the past few days is being notified.
Justice is in communication with his chief of staff and office staff to ensure that state government continues to operate smoothly.
