The prayers of Helen Cecil Adkins were answered on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, as she went home to be with her beloved Russell. Helen passed away at Springfield Center in Lindside, WV, with her daughter, Dreama, son-in-law, Don, and special granddaughter, Angel Williams, by her side.
She was born December 29, 1922, the daughter of John and Ruby Miller Cecil.
Helen was the oldest living member of the Dry Pond Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Adkins; brother, Ottie Mann Jr.; and sister, Norita Bailey.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Nesta Cline of Fairlea, WV, and Dreama Holliday and husband, Don, of Organ Cave, WV; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Mann of Glen Lyn, VA; a sister, Laura “Patty” Jones of Peterstown, WV; sister-in-law, Ruth Pence and husband, Kenneth, of Pine Grove, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Orchard Cemetery in Ballard, WV, with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 PM on Friday at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown.
