Curtis Carel Holliday, 75, of Smoot, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, following a sudden illness.
Born May 24, 1941, he was the son of Charles and Bertha Hizer Holliday.
Carel was a loving father, proud grandfather, lifelong farmer, and avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. In fact, he hated being indoors for very long, which is why he had so many friends and knew so many people in the Greenbrier County area. His ability to make others laugh in spite of their pain was an art form which he mastered well. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Holliday, Ralph Holliday, Clifford “Sam” Holliday, and Roy Lee Holliday.
He is survived by brothers, Pete Holliday of Crichton, WV, Jim Holliday (Jean) of Detroit, MI, David Holliday (Doris) of Crawley, WV, and Neal “Leo” Holliday (Debbie) of Clintonville, WV; his children, Raymond Dale Holliday of North Carolina, Marty Holliday (Stephanie) of Union, WV, Terry Holliday of Lewisburg, WV, and Dawn Holliday (Jeremy Shuck) of Frankford, WV; five grandchildren, Conner, Brady, Ethan, Spencer, and Kennedy; and his beloved companion, his dog, Pepper.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2015, at 2 PM at the Meadow Grove Baptist Church on Springdale Road in Dawson, WV, with his brother, Neal “Leo” Holliday, officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 PM on Friday, June 17, at Wallace & Wallace of Rainelle, WV, or from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Online condolences may be sent to www.wallaceandwallacefh.com.
