Esther Ellen Galford Withrow, 92, of Gap Mills, WV, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, at White Sulphur Springs Care Center in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
She was born March 13, 1924, at Woodrow, WV, a daughter of Albert Summers and Elva Porter Bryd Galford.
Esther was a former caregiver and also worked at Glen L. Martin during World War II as a “Rosie the Riveter.” She was a proud member of the Crimson Springs Church of Gap Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Luther Emerson Withrow Jr., on November 22, 2015; a son, Martin Withrow; one grandchild; three sisters, Lura Scott, Sadie Clowser, and Pauline Hancock; and seven brothers, Price, John, Austin, Clark, Junior, Carl, and Garland Galford.
Survivors include her daughters, Charlene K. Mengel (Donald) of Spring, TX, Phyllis I. Porterfield (Ronald) of Sweet Springs, WV, and Pandora Buckland (Ronnie) of White Sulphur Springs; son, Curtis Emerson Withrow (Debbie) of Conroe, TX; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 2 PM at the Crimson Springs Church at Gap Mills with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 7, from 6-8 PM at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV.
