Derecho is a term many people never heard before the summer of 2012, but that significant storm event changed the way power companies do business. Todd Meyers, spokesperson for Mon Power, said the windstorm that swept through the Greenbrier Valley this past weekend was somewhat significant and caused widespread power outages throughout Mon Power’s service area; however, crews worked all night Saturday into Sunday to restore electricity to customers.
