Nancy Ellen Czajka, “Aunt Nanny,” 60, of Lewisburg, WV, formerly of Cocoa Beach, FL, finally found her wings on Monday, May 25, 2015.
She passed peacefully at Charleston Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV, surrounded by those who loved her.
Nancy was courageous and beautiful until the very end. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Nancy will be missed dearly, but will never be forgotten. Her loving and generous nature was an inspiration to everyone.
Nancy was born June 24, 1954, in Middletown, CT.
Shortly after her arrival, her family moved to Cocoa Beach. She always consider Florida, especially her beloved “Leon Lane,” her home.
Nancy graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 1972 and shortly after moved to Atlanta, GA, where she began a successful career in the restaurant industry. She was manager of Frankie’s Restaurant in Cape Canaveral, FL, for many years. Nancy also worked as a real estate agent with Stenstrom Real Estate in Lake Mary, FL. She took early retirement and moved to West Virginia in 1999 to be with her sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Stenstrom Czajka and Edward Peter Czajka; a brother, Peter Czajka; and husband, Stephen Ruesswig.
Survivors include her significant other, Kirby Ramsey of Lewisburg; sisters, Elizabeth Clack and Lomar of Merritt Island, FL, Mary Kay Odio and Cesar of Miami FL, Cara Roczniak of Lewisburg, and Jackie Golden of Mills River, NC; and brother, David Czajka and Tracy of Merritt Island.
Nancy always thought of her nieces and nephews as her own children. They include nieces, Olivia Clack of New York City, NY, Emily Odio and Laura Czajka-Martyna, both of Charlotte, NC, and Jessica Roczniak-Grist of Lewisburg; and nephews, Ryan Clack Cody Czajka, Ethan Czajka, and Zachary Czajka, all of Merritt Island, and Eddie Odio and Jacob Roczniak, both of Boston, MA; and grandnephew, Thomas Moses Grist.
Nancy also leaves behind her special companion, Annie, and a network of friends spanning coast to coast.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Nancy’s love of animals, the family requests donations be made in Nancy’s honor to the Greenbrier Humane Society, 151 Holliday Lane, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or Central Brevard Humane Society, 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa Beach, FL 32926.
Nancy was of the Catholic faith. Her final prayer was to be with her mother and brother in heaven. Her family asks for prayers so that she may finally experience the peace she could never find on earth.
Nancy’s final wish was to be cremated and her remains be taken home to Leon Lane, Cocoa Beach, the place she always held dear in her heart.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
