Murel G. Robertson, 88, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV.
He was born February 16, 1926, at Lewisburg to the late Spurgeon Paul and Ada Bruffey Robertson.
Murel was a veteran of World War II, Maritime service in the European Theatre of Operation. He was a brick mason, a local building contractor and developer, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ronceverte, WV. He was a member of the AF&AM Masonic Lodge Greenbrier #42, Grand Chapter #21 at Ronceverte, Commandery #15 of the Knights Templar, Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club, Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, WV, and Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston.
Other than his parents, Murel was preceded in death by his sister, Evilee V. Robertson; and brother, Harold “Bud” Robertson.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Robertson of Lewisburg; son, Tony Hinkle (Valerie) of Lewisburg and their children, Brittany and Brooke; daughter, Linda Dunbar Redmond (Barry) of Atlanta, GA, and their children, Ryan, Kelley, and Mary Ashley; brother, Joseph “Butch” Robertson of Clintonville, WV; and niece, Rebecca Robertson of Richmond, VA.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2014, at 2 PM at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Youel Altizer officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery with
Masonic graveside rites by Greenbrier Lodge #42 AF&AM.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 18, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Lewisburg.
